In order to improve security, we have enabled multi-factor authentication for all mailboxes. This means that when logging into your mailbox online, you will need to provide your password and an additional verification step such as a code sent to you by text. Therefore, if somebody manages to get your password, they won't be able to login to your account with just your password. To set up the additional verification method, please follow the steps below.

Either sign in to your account online here or go to this link: http://aka.ms/mfasetup

Sign in to your account and you will be presented with the screen below:

You can now set your phone up to receive a text message containing a code or use the Microsoft Authenticator app. This guide details the text message set up.

Set up text messages to your phone:

Select the drop-down to 'Authentication Phone' and enter your phone number. This can be either your work number of personal number. Your phone isn't used for anything other than sending the authentication code. Select your country and select 'Next'.

You will now receive a code to your phone, enter that code on the next screen.

Click 'Verify' to complete the process. You are now set up with multi-factor authentication and your account is more secure.

Note: You will not be prompted for multi-factor authentication when accessing OWA whilst on the company network (that includes when using the VPN from home).
